PPA Tour Asia confirms Ben Johns' participation in Malaysia Cup
Ben Johns will compete at the Malaysia Cup this September, marking his first-ever PPA appearance outside of the United States.
Johns is currently ranked #1 in both men’s doubles and mixed doubles on the PPA Tour.
The 26-year-old is the winningest player in PPA Tour history with 156 gold medals.
"Johns has redefined what’s possible in professional pickleball. Now he steps onto Asian courts for the first time, where rising local hopes and established stars await their shot at taking on the king," said Tuesday's announcement on the PPA Tour Asia website. "So fans get ready. Every Ben Johns highlight you’ve watched on repeat. Every jaw-dropping ATP that made you hit share. Every backhand roll you’ve tried to copy at your local courts. It’s time to experience that greatness live."
The tournament in Kuala Lumpur will mark PPA Tour Asia’s very first Cup, a milestone moment for professional pickleball in the region. With $500,000 USD in prize money and player payouts, it’s the biggest pickleball tournament ever in Asia.
