Rohrabacher punches ticket to quarters with triumph over Rane
SAN CLEMENTE, CA - No. 18 Rachel Rohrabacher is proving that her singles game is rather dangerous.
Rohrabacher advanced to the quarterfinals at the Select Medical Orange County Cup presented by FitVine Wines on Thursday with a 12-10, 2-11, 11-0 victory over No. 35 Milan Rane.
Rane was playing solid pickleball entering the match after dispatching No. 7 Parris Todd in straight games in the Round of 32 on Wednesday.
Rohrabacher, however, proved to be too much.
The road to earning a medal gets more difficult for Rohrabacher moving forward with No. 2 Catherine Parenteau waiting in the quarters on Friday.
"It's going to be tough. We played once in Cincinnati last year and it was a grinder," said Parenteau. "I'm sure it's going to be a really tough match. I'm looking forward to it. She's a great competitor, so it'll be fun."
