The Norma Kamali Pickleball Dress Collection
DALLAS, TX – The infamous designer pickleball dress now features an entire collection of questionable dresses to wear on the court.
Designer Norma Kamali released her Pickleball Dress on Neiman Marcus, which sparked quite the conversation in the pickleball world. Believe it or not, the dress quickly sold out right before the holidays despite the rather confusing marketing and questionable styling.

The dress was clearly a financial success despite being criticized for its “pickleball” label.
Instead of restocking the product, Kamali released an entire collection of pickleball dresses.
These looks are not athleisure, cute style pieces that rival, for example, the best outfits from the PPA Masters. Oh no. These are cocktail dresses paired with mini handbags, full face makeup, and pumps or strappy heels.
With 40 dresses total, Kamali’s collection covers just about every style you’d traditionally see in cocktail attire. Strapless, one shoulder, elongated draping sleeves, and bows long enough to double as trains - all while maintaining the micro length that offers hardly any coverage of your lady parts.
Some of these looks come in cheetah print, metallic lamé, leather, and fringe jackets, though the most shocking of the bunch is the completely sheer mini dresses with white body suits underneath.
Just because they’re all four-way stretch fabric, though, doesn’t make them suitable for pickleball.
If I was just scrolling through these pieces in the cocktail dress category, I wouldn’t think much of it, but calling them all “pickleball dresses” is just so strange.
They are all completely impractical on the court.
I roll my ankle wearing my reliable tennis shoes – can you imagine what would happen in heels? Or a tulle train? That’s a genuine hazard.
It makes me wonder: Are these dresses just embodiments of click bait, clearly slapped with a “pickleball” label to get people clicking?
And these dresses aren't cheap, starting at $145 and climbing up to $398 for more elaborate ones.
The Pickleball Gang Jacket costs a whopping $695. It’s made from vegan patent leather that’s styled with heeled booties and a sheer Turtleneck Pickleball Dress that genuinely looks stressful to play pickleball in. I don’t know how you could spend a whole match yanking down your dress and making sure you’re not flashing your doubles partner. No thank you.
The backstory of the original dress came from Kamali noticing the pickleball trend, claiming “Pickleball is cool and of the moment. I think this look is maybe a little edgier than what people have been wearing.”
Yes, it’s certainly edgier, but there’s nothing about these dresses that relates to pickleball whatsoever.
After Kamali saw pickleball trending, she decided to rename a piece from her 2023 collection and call it the “Pickleball Dress.” Now, it’s expanded to an entire collection, which makes me a little fearful of what more outrageous looks are in the sport's future.
As much as I want to see pickleball be a bit more fashion forward, this simply doesn't cut it.
