Todd, Waters set finals rematch in Atlanta
For the second time in 2024, Parris Todd will compete for a singles title at Life Time Peachtree Corners.
She defeated No. 3 seed Lea Jansen by a 13-11, 11-2 score line in Saturday’s first semifinal match from the Georgia capital.
After saving one game point at 8-10 in Game 1, Todd went on to score 15 of the match’s final 17 points to clinch the victory.

A difference-maker for the No. 7 seed was her ability to counterpunch from the baseline, as she repeatedly came up with precise passing shots when Jansen tried to come up and volley.
Todd will face Anna Leigh Waters in Sunday's final.
Anna Leigh Waters earned the second spot in the women’s singles final with an 11-7, 11-0 victory over No. 3 seed Brooke Buckner.
Buckner jumped out to a 7-2 lead in the first game, overpowering Waters from the baseline with some devastatingly powerful drives right out of the gate.
From that point on, though, Waters was the only player to put points on the board. The top seed scored the next twenty points to run away with the match in two games.
A change in strategy from Waters played a crucial role in her rally.
“I had to get tricky and change the game plan out there,” she shared. “I started hitting a different serve and tried to give Brooke different speeds and angles because I was just kind of giving her what she wanted at the start, and she was able to tee off on on her shots."
She’ll face Todd for the women’s singles crown on Sunday in a rematch of the Atlanta Open final from May. Waters won that match 12-10, 10-12, 11-5.
