Vietnam prepares to host its biggest pickleball event yet

Anticipation is building for the MB Vietnam Open, as PPA Tour Asia officially unveiled MB as the tournament’s presenting partner on Monday at the Dolce by Wyndham Golden Lake, Hanoi.

Taking place from September 4-7, 2025 at Global City Sports Park, Ho Chi Minh City, the tournament marks a major milestone in Vietnam’s sporting calendar and continues the momentum of the PPA’s expansion across Asia.

Homecoming for Vietnam’s first champion

All eyes will be on Trinh Giang, Vietnam’s golden boy who captured the nation’s heart with his emotional victory at the inaugural PPA Tour Asia Panas Malaysia Open

“I can’t wait to play on home soil with the best crowd we have here in Vietnam! I will give my best representing the Vietnamese flag and my team! Vamos!” Playing before my home fans will be the honor of my career,” said Trinh, whose tactical brilliance and footwork dominated the Malaysia competition. He’ll be joined by UPA Asia Trailblazers standouts and Vietnam’s own Ken Tam and Sophia Tran in the Open tournament.

For MB, competitive pickleball and community wellness go hand in hand, making this partnership a natural fit for their vision.

“MB’s support for pickleball transcends tournament sponsorship – it’s about fostering happiness through shared moments of joy and connection. We believe true well-being combines financial health with emotional fulfillment, which is why this partnership holds such significance to us. By championing active communities and meaningful experiences, it perfectly embodies MB Priority’s vision: Happiness in every moment,” said Ms. Nguyen Thi Viet Nga, Chief Marketing Officer of MB.

As PPA Tour Asia expands its calendar, the tournament marks an opportunity to bring professional pickleball to Vietnam’s passionate and growing fanbase.

“The MB Vietnam Open represents a defining moment for pickleball in Vietnam” said Kimberly Koh, Managing Director of UPA Asia. “By bringing world-class competition to Vietnamese soil, led by homegrown hero Trinh Giang and Asia’s rising stars, we’re not just hosting a tournament, but accelerating the sport’s evolution across the region. Together with MB Bank, we’re creating pathways for local talent while delivering unforgettable experiences that will inspire the next generation of players and fans.”

Local organizers see this as a transformative opportunity for the Vietnamese pickleball community.

“This event marks a significant turning point where Vietnamese pickleball is brought onto the international stage in a professional and confident manner. By being the co-organizer of the PPA Tour Asia – MB Vietnam Open 2025, New Sports aims to develop a comprehensive pickleball ecosystem in Vietnam – from grassroots communities to professional levels, from athlete development to integration with international tournament systems,” said Mr. Nguyen Hai Long, Pickleball Program Director at New Sports JSC.
