Waters battles past Todd in women’s singles, earns 30th Triple Crown
Anna Leigh Waters closed out Championship Sunday with an 11-9, 11-4 victory over Parris Todd to claim the women’s singles title in Southern California.
Perhaps more important for Waters, though, is the fact that she also earned her 30th career Triple Crown on the PPA Tour.
The 17-year-old had a chance to hit the 30-mark at Worlds in Dallas back in November but fell one women’s doubles win short of the milestone.

Waters made sure that wouldn’t happen in San Clemente.
“I was really hoping for my 30th in Dallas and came up a little bit short, but I honestly don’t think I’ve ever worked quite as hard as I did after that tournament because I really wanted to finish this year winning a Triple Crown,” she said.
Sunday’s match was also an opportunity for Waters to earn some revenge because Todd had beaten her in the final of the Orange County Cup in 2022, also at Life Time Rancho San Clemente.
“I got revenge for 15-year-old AL after losing to her in San Clemente in the finals a couple of years ago,” she explained. “I hadn’t played her in a final here since then, and I was honestly really happy that I was getting a chance to today. [Parris] is an amazing player, and I'm just glad to finish out the win.”
2024 has seen Todd establish herself as a top female player in all three disciplines, and she worked her way up from not having a PPA singles ranking in January to being in the top 8 by the end of the year.
“This was really my first full-time year on the PPA Tour, so I’m really proud of myself and give all glory to God,” she said.
Todd will continue to be a player to watch in 2025.
