Waters, Johns earn mixed title as pickleball debuts on FOX
MESA, AZ - Pickleball experienced a new milestone Sunday morning, as the sport made its debut on FOX.
And the sport’s best made sure to bring their ‘A’ game for cable television.
No. 1 seeds Anna Leigh Waters and Ben Johns eased past No. 3 Vivienne David and Thomas Wilson 11-4, 11-1, 11-9 to capture a gold medal and remain undefeated on the year.
This win means a little more for the top seeds after coming up short in 2023.
“It’s really special to win this one because we didn’t make it past the quarters last year,” Waters shared.
Both Waters and Johns still have some work to do on Humana Championship Court; Johns has the men’s singles final against Federico Staksrud, while Waters will go for another Triple Crown in women’s singles and doubles.
