Waters, Johns handle Brascia, Arnold with ease, advance to quarters in mixed
SAN CLEMENTE, CA - Twenty-six minutes.
That's all Anna Leigh Waters and Ben Johns needed to eliminate Maggie Brascia and Julian Arnold from the mixed doubles draw on Thursday at the Select Medical Orange County Cup presented by FitVine Wines.
The top-seeded tandem earned a spot in the quarterfinals with the 11-6, 11-2 victory.
"We knew Julian was going to bring a lot of energy. On the first point, he had this really loud "ANDIAMO!" I think with our duo, I bring more energy," said Waters with a laugh. "There was good chemistry between myself and Ben during the match."
Waters and Johns are seeking their 35th title together.
