Waters, Johns stop Frantova, Kawka’s strong run
ROCKWALL, TX – This is why they’re the No. 1 seeds. Ben Johns and Anna Leigh Waters put a stop to Martina Frantova and Patrick Kawka’s incredible run in the quarter finals.
The one seeds came out strong and took the victory in a quick two game match with a final score of 11-6, 11-5.
During game one, Waters and Johns were at game point, but Frantova and Kawka gained some momentum, gaining some points, then Waters called a strategic time out.
“I don’t think Ben would call a timeout if he was 10-0 in the second game. So, I have to be the mature one on the court and call the time outs for us,” teased Waters. Afterall, she is the 17-year-old on the court.
“But I definitely knew I wasn’t playing my best, so I called the time out and did a mental reset, talked to Mama Waters, then got back out there and played my game,” continued Waters.
Waters and Johns continue up the mixed bracket and will play the winner of Anna Bright, Tyson McGuffin, and Lea Jansen, Hayden Patriquin in the semi-finals.
