Waters, Parenteau sweep Bright, Rohrabacher in three hard-fought games
Anna Leigh Waters/Catherine Parenteau secured their fourth title of the 2025 season with a 13-11, 11-7, 11-5 victory over No. 2 seeds Anna Bright/Rachel Rohrabacher.
These teams’ most recent meeting went the distance, but Waters/Parenteau got the job done in straight games on Sunday.
That’s not to say, however, that Bright/Rohrabacher didn’t have their chances.
They had four game points in Game 1 and a 4-1 lead in the second, but Waters/Parenteau buckled down both times to earn their fifth straight win in the series.
Parenteau spoke of what makes her and Waters such a formidable duo.
“I think we have a lot of trust in each other, and we communicate really well,” she mentioned. “We get along on and off the court, so that’s also huge for our partnership. I couldn’t be any prouder of our team.”
This result gives Waters her second title of the day in Cape Coral. She’ll have a chance to capture the 33rd Triple Crown of her career when she takes on Lea Jansen for the women’s singles title later on.
The 18-year-old knows that it will be challenge, as she’s already played eight games through two matches under the Florida sun.
“It’s gonna be tough,” she said. “I’m definitely gonna be tired, but usually that’s when I play my best singles, so I’m gonna leave it all out on the court and see what happens.”
No. 3 seeds Tyra Black/Allyce Jones came away with the bronze medal after Vivienne David/Jackie Kawamoto withdrew ahead of the match.
