Waters, Todd will clash for women's singles crown in Utah
No. 1 seed Anna Leigh Waters will have a prime opportunity to reach a major milestone at the Black Desert Resort Red Rock Open on Championship Sunday.
Waters will play No. 4 seed Parris Todd in the women's singles final in search of her 50th career singles title on the PPA Tour.
The 18-year-old superstar advanced to the gold medal match with a convincing 11-3, 11-2 semifinal triumph over No. 3 Lea Jansen on Saturday.
As always, Waters is eagerly anticipating another chance to go head-to-head with Todd on a big stage.
"Parris is a great player. She moves really well on the court. I feel like we play kind of similarly, so it's always fun to play her because I feel like we have some really good points," she said. "We're both very athletic, so it's definitely a fun match to watch. I'm excited to be a part of it."
Waters boasts a remarkable 49-3 career record in singles finals, but one of those losses came at the hands of Todd in June 2022 in Orange County.
Waters most recently defeated Todd for a singles championship at the CIBC PPA Finals presented by ROAR Organic in December 2024.
Todd, meanwhile, punched her ticket to the women's singles final with an 11-1, 11-4 semifinal victory over No. 2 Kaitlyn Charistian on Saturday.
Todd most recently claimed singles gold at the Proton Tucson Open in February.
That ended a 32-month drought since her previous singles title, the longest gap for any player in one event.
