Wringer Wear: What do your clothes do for you?

“The second you lose focus in pickleball, things can spiral.”

If you’ve ever played America’s fastest-growing sport, then you know that this statement from Jason Aspes is painfully true. A questionable call or tough bounce turns into a missed volley, which turns into a missed return. As the frustration builds, you go on to miss three more returns—all in the span of ninety seconds.

Your game suffers the moment your mind wanders to anything other than making the next shot; maintaining focus is key.

For Aspes—and many of the millions of pickleball players in the U.S.—one of the challenges to staying focused on court is dealing with sweat getting on your hands.

Sweaty hands make it difficult to grip the paddle and play confidently.

“All I was thinking about on court was ‘Where is my towel for when I need it next?’” Aspes said of his early experiences with the sport in 2020.

He tried all the typical solutions, including overgrips and sweat reducing gels and powders, until he and some friends had the idea to fix it themselves.

Enter Wringer Wear.

Wringer Wear is a pickleball apparel brand that helps players solve the issue of sweaty hands.

One of the key components of Wringer Wear is DRYV, a moisture-wicking technology with two layers of scientifically woven hydrophobic fabric.

The base layer wicks moisture away from the body, while the outer layer acts as a towel to absorb that moisture.

Wringer Wear combines that technology with hydrophobic fabrics and compression garments to incorporate a towel into each pair of shorts.

That all sounds great, but how does it actually perform?

I set out to answer that question, and I was impressed by what I found.

I’ve put the gear to the test over the past few weeks in the warm afternoons and evenings of Dallas, and I can confidently say that Wringer Wear will be a staple of my pickleball wardrobe moving forward.

The clothes fit well, of course, but the DRYV technology was the game-changer for me. The material is woven into the seams of the short, which made for a towel that I could conveniently use to dry my hands—without having to walk to the fence or my bag to get one.

Feel-wise, the hydrophobic material was breathable and kept me cool, which was a perk that I wasn’t expecting.

In short, I would say that Wringer Wear strikes a perfect balance between comfort and utility, between giving players something that they can play confidently in and something that will actively help them on the court.
