Anna Bright took a break from competition at the PPA Veolia Arizona Open to travel to Vietnam, promoting pickleball, helping grow the game internationally, and exploring the country along the way.

On her first day, the rain was pouring, so she opted for a spa visit. Even in the brief clip of her walking through the downpour, her smile is infectious. She already looks like she’s having a blast.

After the spa, she went on a Michelin food tour.

“My chopstick skills are getting better,” said Bright, while trying bún chả for the first time. “I’d rate the bún chả a nine out of 10. And then we tried a dry version of chicken pho. It was very good, but I think I liked the bún chả more.”

Afterwards, Bright went on a sleeper bus and arrived at her hostel at 2:30am to get to Ha Giang Loop.

The Ha Giang Loop is a 350-kilometer scenic motorbike route through the mountains of northern Vietnam that she attended with a tour group. The route is known for its outdoor scenery, rugged terrain, and picturesque mountain views, all right up Bright’s alley as an avid hiker and outdoorswoman.

And leave it to pro pickleball’s most eligible bachelorette to also have some flirty fun along the way.

“We have a group leader and a lot of the easy riders don’t speak English, and our group leader assigned himself to me and he has flirted with me a lot. He asked my age, I said 26, and he said ‘Not 22?’ Then he said he liked my outfit, and I of course flirted back,” recapped Bright. “We had to choose if we wanted elbow and knee pads, and everyone asked if he recommended them. He said that if you trust your easy rider, you don’t need them. And I asked ‘Should I trust you?’ So, this will be a fun three days.” 

On Day 1, they covered 160 kilometers, stopping along the way for food and a quick hike.

That evening, the group shared dinner, went dancing, and even did karaoke. In just a single day, Bright’s group of strangers had already turned into friends.

“The Loop has been incredible. I feel like I’ve seen so much just on Day 1. Seeing different people and how they live, I feel so fortunate and my eyes are just so open. It’s been so cool,” she concluded. “And it’s cool to see how yesterday morning, this group of 10 people were all very uncomfortable with each other. Then last night, we’re all drinking and having a great time together, all from different parts of the world. There’s only one other American in the group, but it’s been so fun.”
