Catherine Parenteau and Jack Sock teaming up in 2024
DALLAS, TX - There was breaking news in the picklesphere on Friday.
Catherine Parenteau and Jack Sock are joining forces in mixed doubles for the 2024 PPA Tour season.
Sock, 31, previously announced his retirement from professional tennis in late August.
New partnerships are always exciting, but this one definitely has people buzzing.
The second-winningest female athlete in PPA Tour history is eagerly anticipating her debut alongside Sock in the new year.
“One of the things I’m really excited about is that he’s super nice. He’s such a great guy on and off the court. He’s fun, super athletic, and he comes from the pro tennis world, so that’s going to be huge when it comes to experience,” said Parenteau.
There are many different aspects of Sock's game that could make this union successful right off the bat.
Parenteau is adamant that the 6-foot-3 American brings a lot to the table skill-wise.
“He can cover a lot of court, he’s powerful, he’s got good hands, and he can make me laugh on the court. I’m pretty sure we’re going to have a good time together, so I’m super excited about that,” shared Parenteau.
The pair began building chemistry for the upcoming campaign earlier this year.
“We trained over the summer together and we plan on training together before next season starts, too,” confirmed Parenteau.
The duo should challenge World No. 1s Ben Johns and Anna Leigh Waters for mixed doubles supremacy in the months to come.
Sock, of course, earned a gold medal alongside Waters at the North Carolina Open in May to cap his first-ever PPA tournament apperance.
“Our goal is definitely to be the best that we can be, and I’m sure we’re going to have many matches that are going to be exciting against Ben and Anna Leigh,” concluded Parenteau.
Buckle up, people! This should be fun.
