Happy Galentine's Day: A look at the best women's doubles duos
DALLAS, TX – Happy Galentine's Day to all the pickleball gals celebrating!
For those who don’t know, Feb. 13 is Galentine's Day. It's basically a holiday for all the best gal pals in your life because friendships are just as valuable as pickleball partnerships.
I’m celebrating by sharing some of my favorite pickleball Galentine's on the court since the women’s doubles bracket is full of incredible pairs, outstanding gameplay, and a whole lot of sisterly love.
Mary and Maggie Brascia

Of course the Brascia sisters sit atop this list. The pair won silver in doubles at the 2023 Biofreeze USA Pickleball National Championships, proving that they are among the best in the business. Conquering the court alongside one another makes victories like these all the more special.
Mary and Maggie are fun to watch, and their passion for the sport is always on display. They know how to reach each other perfectly and their communication is always on point. The love between them is genuinely special.
Callie Smith and Lucy Kovalova

This Galentine pairing is one of my favorites! Lucy and Callie always kill it with outstanding color coordination whenever they pair up. They consistently look fashionably chic and could definitely be classified as the most put-together duo on tour. When they look the part, they play the part.
It’s also clear that these ladies are true friends.
During a post-match interview at the PPA Takeya Showcase this past August, Kovalova had this to say about joining forces with Smith: “It’s always awesome to go to Championship Sunday, but it’s especially awesome playing with my dear friend, Callie. It’s always fun. We had a great time playing and it showed.”
Lucy and Callie are an iconic duo that I love to root for!
Jackie and Jade Kawamoto

We’ve got to include the Kawamoto sisters in this discussion. There’s nothing more impressive than when twin siblings hit the court and maintain their good spirits during any given match, even when the going gets tough. Jackie and Jade are an excellent example of that.
According to Jackie, the two were always neck and neck in sports growing up and regularly competed against each other. Now, they're working together and loving every second of it. The duo won silver at the PPA Cincinnati Open last season.
“We practice together all the time and I’m glad we made it to our first Championship Sunday together,” shared Jackie.
Catherine Parenteau and Anna Leigh Waters

The final partnership is the partnership. Catherine and Anna Leigh are, without a shadow of a double, the most dominant women’s doubles team in the picklesphere. Not only are they consistently seeded atop any tournament bracket, there's remarkable respect between them, too.
These ladies regularly go from winning gold medals as teammates to going head-to-head in singles and still manage to remain cordial, respectful, and supportive of one another through it all.
It's the definition of sportsmanship and class.
There are too many gals that deserve to be celebrated this Galentine’s Day. Who are your favorite duos to watch on the court? Share your thoughts with us on Instagram and X (formerly Twitter).
