Triple Crown opportunity on Championship Sunday? Anna Leigh Waters takes care of business

When Anna Leigh Waters enters Championship Sunday in position to win a Triple Crown, she gets the job done.

Waters has successfully completed 38 of 43 opportunities to claim gold in all three disciplines at a single Carvana PPA Tour event, which translates into an 88% success rate.

She has fallen short of that feat only five times over the years.

Just think about that for a second.

There were two instances in 2024 after doubles losses to Anna Bright and Rachel Rohrabacher at the CIBC Atlanta Slam and Worlds, respectively, and three instances in 2022 when she was still in her early teens.

During a Pickleballtv interview on Semifinal Saturday at the Jenius Bank Pickleball World Championships, tennis legend Andre Agassi predicted that Waters would rise to the occasion in Texas.

"Bet against Anna Leigh at your own peril," he said.

Waters proved Agassi right, of course, and capped her latest Worlds experience by defeating Kate Fahey in the women's singles final and becoming the winningest player in PPA Tour history with her 168th career gold medal to overtake Ben Johns.

Waters has won Triple Crowns in three consecutive tournaments, and a fourth could be on the horizon later this month at the Veolia Lakeland Open presented by Six Zero.

The last time she won four Triple Crowns in a row was between December 2023 at the CIBC PPA Finals and February 2024 at the Carvana Mesa Arizona Cup.

It just might happen again soon.

Bet against her if you dare.
