Best dressed at Rate Championships presented by Skechers
Another tournament, another set of looks from pickleball's finest athletes in Las Vegas.
There’s been an incredible amount of improvement fashion-wise from the male pros. What started out as a list that basically only featured the women, now includes the guys on a regular basis. Ben Johns and Collin Johns are matching when they play mixed doubles, and Federico Staksrud is experimenting with JOOLA polos in a variety of different colors, so things are definitely trending in the right direction.
Of course, the ladies are always stylish.
Here are the best dressed players from the Rate Championships presented by Skechers:
Sky blue is one of the prettiest colors on the planet, right? Tyra looks stunning in this twirly skirt that she paired with a white long sleeve top, white shoes, and white visor. If there’s one thing that we can count on with her court fashion, it's that she will always be dressed to the nines and add exciting elements to make her outfit pop like ribbons in her hair or a unique open-back top. Tyra is definitely a trend-setter on the court.
Playing mixed doubles with Genie Bouchard, Ivan coordinated his light purple tee and white shorts with her purple New Balance set. While Bouchard is a regular on the Best Dressed List, I think Jakovljevic’s look is stronger this time around. Light purple is a beautiful color on the court, but I also love that he paired it with simple white shoes, white high socks, and a white sweatband. Kept it simple and sleek.
Friends, there's nothing that makes me happier than seeing the men turn up the heat with their outfits. Enter JW, who competed in Las Vegas with a white Franklin polo and simple black shorts, and paired them with black socks, black shoes, and a white hat. He even wore a few gold chains. Is JW becoming a fashionista? I love to see it. (Jorja also looks fabulous, as per usual.)
Liz caught my attention with this cool two-tone red skirt. I love seeing some less popular brands in the picklesphere get some attention, and this Lacoste burgundy and bright red skirt is stunning. Not only does it feature two different colors, it also has two different textures and sized pleats. Using the bold skirt as her statement piece, Liz kept the rest of her outfit simple with a light blue gray fitted tank, white and black Head shoes, and a white visor. Welcome to the list, Liz!
Some people can’t pull off a muscle tank, but DJ makes it look effortlessly cool. His bone white Stack shirt paired with black Stack shorts demonstrates that if you stick to solid colors, you’ll instantly look sharp. There’s also something about a black and white ensemble that makes tattoos pop. His black and white Head court shoes are a nice touch, too.
Another Stack look has made the list this week, but this time it’s from the ladies. Angie played mixed doubles in this Stack fitted cropped tank top that’s in this gorgeous navy and light blue checkerboard pattern. At first glance, the pattern appears simple, but if you look more closely, it’s the shape of a pickleball court designed to look like a checkerboard. How cool is that? The colors are so cute for the fall, and paired with a fit and flare black skirt and white shoes, she looks great.
We’ve got lots to look forward to at the upcoming Lapiplasty UPA World Championships in November, where I foresee pros and amateurs alike showing up in style.
