'Incorporate pickleball into your date rotation,' says former Bachelorette star Hannah Brown
Hannah Brown may best be known for her time as “The Bachelorette,” but after she handed out her final rose, she eventually found herself having a regular date night on the pickleball court with her new fiancé, Adam Woolard.
In an exclusive interview to promote her new romance book, "The Four Engagement Rings of Sybil Rain," Brown shared how much joy the sport has brought to her post-Bachelorette life.
“Every Tuesday was our pickleball date night and it was such a connecting thing for us and to have fun,” said Brown.
Though Brown didn’t meet Woolard from the show, she learned a lot about the kind of qualities she was looking for in a partner both on and off the court.
“Adam is so encouraging and he’s good at sports, so it’s great to be on his team because he can jump in for the things I’m not the best at. He’s also good at allowing me to take my shots and get better and improve. We’re just a really good team in life and in pickleball,” explained Brown. “He’s really optimistic, too, and he’s not a sore loser or winner. He’s patient, and even when he messes up a shot, he can joke and laugh about it.”

She and Woolard have been busy with wedding planning and Brown with writing her new novel, so they don’t play America's fastest-growing sport as much as they’d like to.
However, they still made time to play during their respective pre-wedding festivities.
“Both Adam and I had our bachelor and bachelorette parties on the same weekend and we both played pickleball,” confirmed Brown. “A lot of my friends hadn’t played, so we had two different courts so they could work with the instructor. I played with the girls who’ve played before, so we could play a few games.”
Pickleball was the perfect activity for Brown’s bachelorette weekend.
They even had custom paddles commemorating the occasion, and Brown wore an adorable pink athletic dress from LoveShackFancy.
“Pickleball was great because when you’re on a vacation or having a bachelorette weekend, you’re not prioritizing getting your movement in,” mentioned Brown. “It was a blast to get a little workout in, then go lay out on the beach after.”
Though Brown didn’t have a pickleball date during her time on the show, she was enthusiastic about pickleball becoming a regular date on the program.
Pickleball has made a few appearances on the franchise.
In season one, “The Golden Bachelor” had an entire pickleball date where the leading man got to see his eligible bachelorettes hit the court.
And as we all know, you can learn a lot about a person by how they play pickleball.
“Because pickleball is so community based, there can be a lot of flirtation on the court and around the court. My favorite kind of dates are when you’re actually interacting and learning an activity together, and pickleball is a great way to do that,” said Brown. “I would suggest anyone to incorporate pickleball into their date rotation.”
Though Brown hasn’t played pickleball with any of the other Bachelors or Bachelorettes, she’d like to have a pickleball double date with former Bachelor Joey Graziadei and his fiancée, Kelsey Anderson.
“Joey would be fun, but he might take it too seriously because he’s a tennis player,” noted Brown. “Matt James is also one of my good friends, and I would love to see him on the pickleball court.”
With Brown sharing her love of the sport, I hope there’s a lot more pickleball dates on “The Bachelor.”
Pickleball definitely deserves the final rose.
