Pickle Breakers set world record with 49-hour pickleball match

The Pickle Breakers staged a heroic Guinness World Record attempt by playing 49 consecutive hours of pickleball over the last few days at Pickler Universe in the Dallas suburb of Carrollton, TX.

Members Chong "CK" Kim, Geneva Olson, Cristobal Del Castillo, and Abla Mannarino started competing at 6:00 a.m. CT on Saturday and finished on Monday morning.

The Pickle Breakers' bid for the "Longest marathon playing pickleball (doubles)" is pending final certification from Guinness World Records officials, but the group is confident their achievement will ultimately be recognized.

The current certified record is 34 hours, 5 minutes and 55 seconds, achieved by Tony Matharu (UK), Niklas Johansson (Sweden), Adam Webb (UK) and Rishabh Kumar Vaish (India) at an event organized by the Central London Alliance in London in September 2024.

The Pickle Breakers shattered that mark with a little encouragement from another American group that actually attempted the same feat over the weekend.

"We were just going to try to beat 36 hours and some odd minutes because that would've set the world record, but just a day before us, a group out of Pennsylvania played for 48 hours straight," said Kim. "We were just lucky enough to find out, so with a lot of heartache and a lot of conversations trying to decide if that's what we wanted to do or not, we did find out that they did go the whole 48 hours, so we suffered through and did 49 hours. That is a new world record attempt."

The Pickle Breakers also raised money for UPA Tour pro Thomas Wilson to help cover the costs of his ongoing medical treatments.

Wilson is battling a rare autoimmune and autonomic nervous system disorder that impacts his breathing, circulation, and muscle endurance, and he has pursued treatment across the country and internationally via therapeutic plasma exchange (TPE), intravenous immunoglobulin (IVIG), and stem-cell therapy.

The Pickle Breakers is a nonprofit organization dedicated to using pickleball to inspire community, inclusion, and charitable giving.

Their mission is to break barriers through pickleball—connecting athletes of all abilities, sharing compelling stories, and producing exceptional events that raise funds for causes that matter.
