If you’re registered for a pickleball tournament or just want to be the best dressed duo at your local court and have no idea what to wear – don’t worry. I’ve got you covered.  

Whether we want to admit it or not, matching with your mixed partner just looks better. And I know for a fact that when I look good and feel good on the court, I’m instantly going to play better. 

So here's a few of my favorite ways to coordinate outfits with your mixed dubs partner, for easy beginners all the way to expert level coordination. 

Level 1: Same Brand, Same Collection

This is by far the easiest way to coordinate with your mixed partner. Just shop at the same store at the same time.

Brands like Lululemon, Vuori, Alo, literally your favorite athleticwear brand and others will often release the same colors and patterns across both their men's and women's collections.

So pick your current favorite, and go with that. 

The pros do this all the time. Take best dressed list regulars and top mixed team Jorja and JW Johnson. They'll buy pieces from the exact same collection from Lululemon. 

Jorja wears the new skirt, top, and shrug and JW wears the same color from the men’s collection. And when they step out on center court, they look coordinated and it’s so effortless. 

Easy. Foolproof. Very low effort in the best possible way. 

Level 2: Matching Accent Colors and Accessories

Maybe you don't want to buy whole new outfits. That’s totally fair. So instead, pick one matching accent color and build around it.

For example, if she's wearing a black tennis dress with a baby blue hair bow, he can wear all black and incorporate a baby blue accessory, like this example where he wore baby blue arm sleeves to match. 

The best part is that most players already own black, white, or navy, so all you need is one matching accessory to tie everything together.

This is one of the easiest ways to create a cohesive look without overthinking it. It’s simple, clean, and tournament-ready.

Level 3: The Color Swap

This is one of my favorite mixed doubles outfit formulas. Here’s an example from pros Nicole Conard and Will Mackinnon. 

Player one wears purple on top and white on the bottom. And player two wears white on top and purple on the bottom.

As a pair, they’re coordinated but not so matchy-matchy where it looks like a uniform. 

You can do this with almost any color combination you like. And because you're only using one statement color plus one neutral color, odds are you already own everything you need.

Just pick your favorite color and pair it with black, white, or navy. 

This kind of look never misses and consistently looks chic. 

Level 4: Advanced Color Coordination

Now this is expert level mixed doubles.

Instead of one accent color, you're coordinating two or three colors across both outfits.

One of my favorite examples is a throwback from Ben Johns and Anna Leigh Waters wearing complementary colors like emerald and lime green. This era of fits was top tier in my opinion. 

Individually, the outfits are different. But together, they look intentional and chic. 

And if you really want to impress the pickleball fashionistas like myself, take inspiration from this duo from the PPA Challengers. 

Connor Mogle and Audrey Brown simply knocked my socks off when they expertly coordinated blue, yellow, and pink throughout their outfits and accessories. 

This is simply immaculate. If your outfits look like this, you're not just getting dressed to go play pickleball. You're creating art. No notes. It’s perfect.
