Valentine’s Day athleticwear showdown: The top pick will surprise you

If you’ve got Valentine’s Day pickleball plans or you’re channeling Max Freeman energy and ready to shoot your shot with your pickleball crush, you’ll want to look your best.

Here’s my review and ranking of a few athleticwear brands that dropped Valentine’s Day collections.

6. Beach Riot

Beach Riot’s Valentine’s Day collection leans fully into playful, on-theme patterns. From a red legging-and-top set covered in pink hearts to red dresses accented with pops of pink, the pieces unmistakably scream Valentine’s Day. While the collection is fun and festive, the designs feel a bit too on the nose, more like outfits you’d wear once a year rather than versatile staples you can reach for again.

5. WISKII

WISKII Activewear is a favorite on the pro pickleball circuit, frequently spotted on Best Dressed List regulars Jorja Johnson and Hurricane Tyra Black. While WISKII’s Valentine’s Day shop may be small, it definitely packs a punch. The collection revolves entirely around a new baby pink colorway, Shakura Zen, which appears across a range of their best-selling pieces, most notably their signature scalloped-hem styles.

Because the collection is so limited, WISKII’s Valentine’s Day edit lands in the fifth spot in the rankings.

4. Target

Target delivers a wide range of unique Valentine’s-ready athletic looks, with options that work no matter what your pickleball date-night plans look like. From hot pink bubble-hem dresses and flirty floral styles to pink checkerboard matching sets and adorable patchwork sweatsets, there’s something to suit just about every personal style. Even better, many of these pieces are versatile enough to carry you straight into the spring and summer seasons.

3. Lululemon

While Lululemon’s Valentine’s Day gift collection highlights their bestselling pieces in light pinks and cheerful reds, the real standout is their accessories. From crew socks and baseball hats to hair clips, hair ties, and even a heart-shaped wristlet, the Valentine’s theme truly comes to life in the finishing touches.

In addition to the heart-themed accessories, Lululemon also released a heart collection featuring leggings, tops, and wraps with subtle cutout heart details—an incredibly charming touch. The designs are understated yet perfectly on theme, offered in black, light pink, and burgundy. However, the collection was so popular that much of it is already sold out, which lands Lululemon in the third spot due to limited availability.

2. Alo

Parris Todd would definitely approve. Her go-to pickleball apparel brand delivered an absolutely immaculate Valentine’s Day collection. From cozy loungewear for a movie night in with your doubles partner to sneakers, matching sets, and even a menswear line, there’s no shortage of options for you and your pickleball Valentine.

The color palette is just as strong, blending classic Valentine’s hues like bright red and candy-heart pink with a rich plum color that beautifully complements both. With a wide range of matching sets, dresses, and silhouettes, this collection makes it easy to find the perfect fit.

1. SET

I didn’t expect the top spot to go to SET, especially since I haven’t tried their fits before, but I love a good surprise. The brand offers a standout mix of cozy sweats, leggings, sports camis, fleeces, and crew socks. What really won me over, though, are the unexpected color combinations that feel subtle enough for Valentine’s Day yet totally wearable year-round. Blush light pink paired with sky blue and rich purple accented with a pop of peach feel fresh, eye-catching, and genuinely unique, all while coming in a wide range of styles and coordinating accessories.

Happy shopping!
