Vogue styles pickleball: What the most influential fashion magazine wears to play
Vogue recently published an article showcasing a variety of pickleball outfit ideas.
As a fashion guru with an eye for the latest trends, I needed to explore their recommendations.
Here are Vogue's outfit recommendations, along with my corresponding evaluations:
The Hero Dress
Vogue gets it. They love a little black tennis dress as much as I do. It’s a pickleball wardrobe staple since it never goes out of style. And it’s so clean and effortlessly chic. I love how they styled it with the Ame & Lulu bag, and they even inspired me to knot a polo sweater over my shoulders to complete the classic look. Obsessed.
The Preppy Motif

It’s no surprise to see Vogue going country club chic for a pickleball look. After all, racket sports are classically preppy. The little striped polo from Sporty & Rich is so cute with a timeless black pleated tennis skirt. Though with the green, white, and navy color pallet of the shirt and a white bag, I’d wear a white tennis skirt instead.
The Cold Weather Look
Vogue shares a gorgeous example of how to look fabulous without flattering tennis skirts and twirly dresses. Instead of wearing the atrocious leggings-under-the-tennis- skirt look, they opted to sport a sleek pair of leggings and a cozy Lacoste sweatshirt and crew socks.
This look falls short in the shoe department because they recommend white HOKA shoes, which is a big mistake because without proper court shoes, you’re more likely to get injured. Wear proper K-Swiss or Skechers court shoes instead and you’ll be playing pretty.
The Graphic Tee
I love that they included a graphic t-shirt look because there are so many fun graphic t-shirts in the pickleball market. From Le Pickle Club to Heritage Pickle-ball, there are so many cool graphics that elevate your court fashion. Paired with a classic white pleated mini skirt, this outfit serves up a good look.
They also recommended alo shoes. Again a big NO.
The Palette Cleanser
One of the easiest ways to look so chic and put together is by literally just wearing all one color. A monochromatic look in any color eliminates the stress of styling different colors together and makes you look so good with very minimal effort. For this look, they recommended a matching cream top and fitted skirt from Staud paired with a visor. That combo is just a win.
The Tonal Touch
You can never go wrong with a black and white color pallet, and the standout piece is the white with black accents tennis dress from Tory Burch styled with a half zip sweatshirt. Now all you need is your JOOLA, and you’ll certainly be the best dressed player at your court.
