Proton recently unveiled a new wide body version of its sought-after Project Flamingo paddle, along with expanded thickness options across the lineup.

Both the wide body and original elongated models are now available in 13mm and 15mm versions as well.

The 13mm model delivers more pop and maneuverability at the kitchen line for players seeking those key attributes, while the 15mm version provides a softer, more controlled feel.

According to Proton, the wide body shape increases forgiveness without sacrificing the paddle’s hallmark power and spin. It retains the same "Velocity Core" technology that made the original Project Flamingo a favorite among professionals and high-level amateurs that garnered praise as one of the most aggressive paddles available.

The new wide body models also feature reduced static weight and swingweight to enhance overall playability.

"Our new wide body Flamingo is that shape for a reason," said Proton Founder and President, Charles Darling. "After many months of R&D and testing multiple different shapes, this shape is the one that delivered the most power, largest sweet spot and best dwell time. Our testing data from USA Pickleball and the United Pickleball Association confirms that we've pushed the limits for power and spin. I'm so proud of how these turned out."

PPA Tour pro and Proton-sponsored player, Meghan Dizon, used the new wide body paddle at the 2025 Jenius Bank Pickleball World Championships in Dallas.

And she immediately noticed a difference.

"I knew right away after playing with it that this was going to be my new paddle for competitive play," said Dizon. "I've been getting more power with my drives and more consistency at the net with this version."
