Razer x JOOLA: A collab made in Ben Johns heaven

All eyes at the Jenius Bank Pickleball World Championships were on Ben Johns, as per usual, but this time it was because he brought a new paddle to the court.

The 26-year-old played with a new JOOLA Perseus Pro IV, which features a green hue and logo from the gaming company, Razer.

“Razer is one of the biggest gaming companies in the world,” said Johns. “They do controllers, laptops, computers, keyboards, mouses, everything any gamer, professional gamer, or avid gamer needs.”

Razer is the world’s leading lifestyle brand for gamers, by gamers. Their triple-headed snake trademark logo is one of the most recognized images in the gaming and esports communities.

“This paddle is a collaboration with them. Their logo is at the top of the paddle along with the JOOLA logo down at the bottom. It’s still a Pro IV, and we have this cool green and black design which I’ve been loving, especially with an all-black outfit. I feel like Luke Skywalker out there,” mentioned Johns. “It’s super cool, and it’s fun to see a huge gaming company like Razer be so into pickleball.”

As an avid gamer himself, Johns was thrilled to debut the limited edition paddle on pickleball’s biggest stage. World No. 1 men’s singles player, Federico Staksrud, also used the paddle during the tournament.

“I’ve always loved the competition and strategy that comes with both gaming and pickleball,” said Johns in a JOOLA press release. “This partnership between JOOLA and Razer brings those worlds together in a really unique way. The paddle has that perfect blend of precision engineering and bold design. It’s as fun to play with as it is to look at.”

This paddle is available starting Dec. 9, exclusively on JOOLA.com for $299.95.

Only 1,337 of them were manufactured, though, so be prepared to act fast.

The number 1,337 is a nod to gaming culture where “1337” or “LEET” (short for “Elite”) represents mastery, something players like Johns and Staksrud have already achieved in pickleball.

JOOLA and Razer created a paddle for gamers in both the digital and physical areas.

The Razer Perseus Pro IV has all the elements of a Pro IV, a raw carbon surface that enhances spin control and dwell time, just with an eye-catching paddle face that’s easily recognized by gamers, too.

The CEO and Owner of JOOLA, Richard Lee, insists the collaboration is a perfect match.

“Razer dominates the digital arena and JOOLA leads the court,” he said. “Together, we’ve created something that embodies the mindset of modern competitors who live to push boundaries, wherever they play.”
