Devilliers raising funds for playground project in Wichita
Jay Devilliers hails from France, but he has proudly called Wichita, KS home for over a decade.
That’s why the father of three and his wife, Aleksandra, are wholeheartedly committed to helping fellow residents in whatever ways they can.
Enter Rainbows United.
The local charitable organization, which enhances the lives of children with special needs and their families, is seeking to build a new turf playground, and Jay and Aleksandra are eagerly lending a hand via an online fundraising effort.
The couple is trying to raise $30,000 to support the project by Dec. 18.
That's when the PPA Tour and MLP star will celebrate his 30th birthday, and he couldn't think of a more fitting way to mark the occasion than by successfully achieving this important goal.
"I’ve been truly blessed with the journey I’ve been on this far, and all I would love for my birthday is to make a small difference in someone else’s life," said Devilliers.
A more detailed description of Rainbows United's playground endeavor is available on the veteran pickleball athlete's "30 for 30" fundraiser page.
"This project will remove slick paving stones directly outside of the Early Care and Education classrooms and expand safe, accommodating play opportunities for children with special needs by replacing it with a rainbow-colored play area that includes a gently sloping mound, tunnel, and bridge covered with impact-absorbing polypropylene turf.
A turf play area will transform this outdoor space to promote toddler and preschoolers’ development of gross motor, language, communication, behavior, and social-emotional skills for improved wellbeing and greater school readiness.
If there should be money left over from the construction of the playground, the remaining funds raised will go towards funding new chairs for the classrooms."
Jay and Aleksandra have helped raise over $5,000 since "30 for 30" was officially launched in July.
Stay tuned to Jay's official website, X account, and Instagram account for more detailed information on any events or initiatives in the coming months to support this cause.
"Wichita is a place that really welcomed us. We talk about the Midwest being one of the most friendly places, and that has been very true for us. We've been helped a lot, and this is our way to give back a little bit as well," said Devilliers.
