Breaking down the moves from Trade Window #2 of the 2026 MLP season

After the 2026 MLP draft took place in late February, Trade Window #2 of the MLP season is now open and will run through July 15.

This article breaks down each trade, with the newest moves at the top.

The season will begin at MLP Dallas, which will run from May 22-25.

March 14

Two trades were announced involving the Columbus Sliders, Miami Pickleball Club, and Carolina Hogs:

  •

Updated Rosters

Columbus: Parris Todd, Danni-Elle Townsend, Alix Truong, Andrei Daescu, CJ Klinger, Alex Crum

Miami: Isabella Dunlap, Estee Widdershoven, Aiko Yoshitomi, Yuta Funemizu, Clayton Powell, Nicolas Acevedo

Carolina: Angie Walker, Alli Phillips, Ava Ignatowich, DJ Young, James Delgado, Brandon French

March 4

A trade was announced between the Brooklyn Pickleball Team and California Black Bears:

Analysis for Brooklyn

Roster: Rachel Rohrabacher, Jackie Kawamoto, Hannah Blatt, Christian Alshon, Riley Newman, Chris Haworth

Brooklyn's busy post-draft period continues, and with this move, they take care of what was a glaring issue in 2025: DreamBreakers. Brooklyn was just 1-3 in DreamBreakers last season, but adding Haworth—who is up to No. 3 in the PPA men's singles rankings—should help them immensely. Haworth is unlikely to challenge for a starting spot in doubles, but Brooklyn is as dangerous as ever in both doubles and singles.

Analysis for California

Roster: Kiora Kunimoto, Sahra Dennehy, Emma Nelson, Michael Loyd, Anouar Braham, Luca Mack

The Black Bears have acquired cash in both of their recent trades, which opens the door to more aggressively pursue top talent either through the trade market or the four waiver periods that will take place throughout the season. The Black Bears will most likely struggle in 2026 with their current roster, but they have rising talent on both sides to go along with a sizeable amount of cash to work with.

March 3

A trade was announced between the Atlanta Bouncers and Phoenix Flames:

Analysis for Atlanta

Roster: Jessie Irvine, Kaitlyn Christian, Keilly Ulery, Jay Devilliers, Jaume Martinez Vich, Donald Young

This move sets Irvine up to compete alongside both of her 2026 PPA doubles partners in Christian and Devilliers. She and Christian are consistently making the quarterfinals and even took a game off of Anna Leigh Waters/Anna Bright at the Masters, while she and Devilliers have made some nice runs since rekindling their partnership in 2026. After narrowly missing the playoffs in 2025, the new-look Bouncers seem to be in solid position heading into this season.

Analysis for Phoenix

Roster: Judit Castillo, Daria Walczak, Alexa Schull, Jonathan Truong, Wyatt Stone, Cam Chaffin

The Flames have now bid farewell to their entire 2025 roster after missing the playoffs. Walczak and Schull are newly signed to the UPA, so it's likely for one of them to pair up with Castillo, who is fresh off a career-best doubles run to the semifinals in Mesa alongside Genie Erokhina. At this point, I expect Phoenix to roll with Truong/Stone in men's doubles since they played Ben Johns/Gabe Tardio close in Mesa, though it's hard to ignore the upside of 14-year-old Cam Chaffin.

A trade was announced between the Los Angeles Mad Drops and Florida Smash:

Analysis for Los Angeles

Roster: Catherine Parenteau, Jade Kawamoto, Genie Bouchard, Ben Johns, Max Freeman, Gabe Joseph

The Mad Drops continue to establish themselves as contenders with this move. Bouchard won't take the place of Parenteau or Kawamoto in doubles, but she will likely replace Kawamoto in the DreamBreaker rotation. The Wimbledon semifinalist has established herself as a top-tier singles player and is currently tied for No. 8 in the PPA Tour women's singles rankings. Los Angeles will most likely roll out a tremendously scary singles lineup of Parenteau, Bouchard, Johns, and Joseph when the occasion calls for it.

Analysis for Florida

Roster: Zoey Weil, Martina Frantova, Paula Rives, Travis Rettenmaier, Cason Campbell, Christopher Crouch

This move gives the Smash the same roster they used in 2025, with the addition of Weil and Crouch. Despite Weil and Crouch providing some hope for the future, this team will likely struggle in 2026.

A trade was announced between the Texas Ranchers and California Black Bears:

Analysis for Texas

Roster: Lea Jansen, Layne Sleeth, Ava Cavataio, Eric Oncins, Dylan Frazier, Matthew Barlow

Tuesday's announcement is a confirmation of a trade that was previously announced but postponed until after the draft. The original deal had Texas send cash in exchange for Sleeth, but the Ranchers now send Dennehy, who they selected 22nd in last week's draft. Sleeth is expected to play mixed doubles alongside Oncins, since Jansen/Frazier have been playing together on the PPA Tour so far in 2026. Sleeth underwent hip surgery in December and hasn't competed yet in 2026, but she is expected to be ready to go for the MLP season.

Analysis for California

Roster: Kiora Kunimoto, Sahra Dennehy, Emma Nelson, Chris Haworth, Michael Loyd, Anouar Braham

The Black Bears appear to be going all-in on emerging talent on the female side. Kunimoto has had some excellent singles results recently, Nelson has shown flashes of brilliance at just 15 years of age, and Dennehy has earned six medals (three golds) competing at stops on the PPA Tour Asia and PPA Tour Australia. More moves involving California are expected to be announced this week.

A trade was announced between the Brooklyn Pickleball Team and Texas Ranchers:

Analysis for Brooklyn

Roster: Rachel Rohrabacher, Jackie Kawamoto, Hannah Blatt, Christian Alshon, Riley Newman, Luca Mack

Brooklyn is turning back the clock a few years with these moves, as Kawamoto, Alshon, and Newman were all on the team’s 2023 roster (then as the D.C. Pickleball Team) that won an event at MLP Dallas. Alshon and Newman have had success on the PPA Tour despite not playing together since 2024, and the mixed doubles pairing of Kawamoto/Newman should continue to be a reliable No. 2. Rohrabacher/Alshon have made deep runs in both of the PPA Tournaments they have played together, so they should anchor a new-look Brooklyn squad.

Analysis for Texas

Roster: Lea Jansen, Sahra Dennehy, Ava Cavataio, Eric Oncins, Dylan Frazier, Matthew Barlow

With Oncins as the only remaining member of the Ranchers’ 2025 roster, this move serves as the latest evidence of the team’s plan to go in a different direction under new Head Coach Caleb Garrard. Oncins and Frazier are full-time partners on the PPA Tour and should be a very strong men’s doubles pairing, while Jansen/Frazier have also played several PPA tournaments as mixed doubles partners in 2026. Barlow, who is fresh off a semifinal singles run in Mesa, can also provide singles support if either Oncins or Frazier begins to struggle.
