Best dressed at the Veolia Pickleball National Championships
I’m thrilled to be back for the PPA season, especially to get back into talking about the best fashion in the sport. MLP was a blast, but those uniforms definitely kept things a bit limited creatively. Seeing players return to bold, expressive on-court fits is a welcome change. The first tournament of the season certainly didn’t disappoint.
Here are the best dressed pros from the Veolia Pickleball National Championships.
Jorja Johnson and Hurricane Tyra Black
Johnson and Black were the team I was most excited to watch heading into this tournament. I’d really missed their bold, experimental style on court. Unsurprisingly, they delivered look after look all week long.
I couldn’t pick just one favorite, so they’re all getting the spotlight. They opened the tournament in vibrant green Lululemon tops that popped on court—Jorja paired hers with a pirouette skirt from Popflex Active, while Tyra opted for a matching green skirt to complete the look.
Another standout look came in the form of matching aqua bubble-hem dresses from 11NIL, with Black elevating hers even further thanks to rhinestone detailing that added an extra layer of sparkle on court.
For Championship Sunday, they went with matching white Marta dresses from Wilson—an effortlessly elegant choice. The lace detailing and layered design felt soft and feminine, giving the look an almost ethereal presence on court.
Morelli is quickly becoming one of my go-to players when it comes to pro pickleball fashion. She consistently shows up looking her best, and I love how she leans into trending patterns. In North Carolina, she delivered two standout looks—starting with a blue and maroon striped set in mixed doubles (with a similar version spotted at Altar’d State).
In women’s doubles, she went with a light blue layered polka-dot dress from Abercrombie—another standout moment. Both looks felt effortlessly trendy and polished.
Griffith brought a seriously chic look to center court in mixed doubles. The standout piece for me was the pleated Lululemon skirt, featuring a light blue and maroon geometric pattern, paired perfectly with a matching maroon tank, white shoes, and a white visor. The color combination felt playful yet polished—and it suits her so well. She’s definitely one to keep an eye on for more standout style moments.
The mixed doubles team that stunned No. 1 seeds Anna Leigh Waters and Ben Johns didn’t just deliver the biggest upset of the tournament—they won the style battle, too. Johnson and Johnson were perfectly in sync in a dark forest green Wilson set, a masterclass in coordinated doubles fashion. There are even J. Pritchard lookalikes for both looks: one for Jorja and one for JW. It’s yet another reminder that when you look your best, you tend to play your best, too.
Sewing made her PPA Tour debut in North Carolina and I was incredibly curious to see what her fashion game looked like. And I’m happy to report, Sewing delivered. This light purple set she wore to play women’s singles was a standout look to me. Clad in a lilac top and matching bubble hem skirt, Sewing looked so effortlessly chic. Styled with all white accessories, this look was simply a win.
The moment I saw this look, it was an automatic addition to the Best Dressed List because you can’t go wrong with a great dress. This Altar’d State piece packs in so many standout details, from the mix of gingham and polka dots to the peek-a-boo back. It’s effortlessly cute and fits her beautifully. If I were Ampon, I’d be reaching for this dress every chance I got. It’s that good.
Waters was the pro I was most curious to see style-wise at this event. I’ll admit not every look landed for me, but this reddish-pink set was a clear standout. The Nike fitted tee paired with a sleek fit-and-flare skort felt both polished and put-together. I also loved how her white and red shoes tied everything together, and even her Pilla sunglasses complemented the look. A sharp, cohesive outfit from head to toe.
