Now, let’s get into what to watch for:
- The Miami Pickleball Club (8-13, 21pts) still holds the tenth and final playoff spot after a DreamBreaker victory over the Chicago Slice on Thursday. Miami will look to improve to 2-0 in Utah with a match against the Atlanta Bouncers (4-17, 14pts) on the books for Friday. Led by veteran Jay Devilliers, the South Florida squad is only two standings points behind the Utah Black Diamonds (8-13, 23pts) for the ninth spot in the standings and will hope to overtake the hometown team with more wins this weekend.
- The Chicago Slice (5-17, 20pts), who are Miami’s biggest competition for the final playoff spot, are looking to recover from a tough Thursday outing that saw them fall to both Texas and Miami in DreamBreakers. Just one point out of the postseason coming into Friday’s action, Chicago will look to get back on track in a crucial match against Utah.
- The day’s best contest projects to be the Texas Ranchers (13-9, 41pts) taking on the Orlando Squeeze (13-8, 37pts). The Ranchers secured a 4-0 sweep when these teams faced off earlier this season at MLP Austin, but both squads have made roster modifications since then; Texas added Kaitlyn Christian and are having Wyatt Stone fill in for Christian Alshon this week, while Orlando acquired Milan Rane from Miami. The Ranchers can overtake the Los Angeles Mad Drops (18-7, 49pts) for the sixth spot in the standings (a feat that would earn them a first-round bye in the playoffs) if they win their three remaining matches in regulation, while Orlando is hoping to overtake Texas for the No. 7 spot in the standings. The Squeeze cannot pass the Mad Drops, however.
Grandstand Court action begins at 11am MDT, while Championship Court matches will start at noon MDT on Pickleballtv.
