3 things to watch for on Friday at PPA Cape Coral
The Zimmer Biomet Cape Coral Open continues Friday with quarterfinal action in all five pro events.
Here is the day’s order of play:
Now, let’s get into what to watch for.
- Kate Fahey and Genie Bouchard will face off in women’s singles for the first time since the semifinals of the Las Vegas Cup in October of 2025. Bouchard won that contest in three games in one of the most impressive victories of her career and will be looking to replicate that success on Friday with no Anna Leigh Waters in the singles draw. On the other side, Fahey will be out for revenge and looking to protect her top seed and No. 2 PPA Tour women’s singles ranking. This bout will open up the day’s action on Humana Championship Court.
- In men’s singles, Hunter Johnson and Roscoe Bellamy will square off for the third consecutive tournament. Bellamy triumphed in the bronze medal match at the Masters, while Johnson won a three-game thriller in the semifinals of the Indoor National Championships. Something will have to give in the eighth career meeting between the two friends, who also made the men’s doubles Round of 16 playing together this week. This will be the second match of the day on Humana Championship Court.
- And in mixed doubles, Mari Humberg/Augie Ge are into the quarterfinals after consecutive three-game upsets over Parris Todd/Dekel Bar and Tina Pisnik/Noe Khlif. Things won’t get any easier for the No. 19 seeds on Friday, though, as they will next take on top seeds Anna Leigh Waters/Ben Johns. Humberg/Ge will look to continue their run in what will be the day’s fifth match on CC.
Live coverage from the Sunshine State begins at 10am ET on Pickleballtv.
