3 things to watch for on Friday at PPA Sacramento

Now, let’s get into what to watch for.

  • Catherine Parenteau and Kiora Kunimoto will face off in women’s singles for the second time this season. The 18-year-old Kunimoto has taken the pickleball world by storm in 2026 and won the previous clash against Parenteau 11-4, 11-6 when they played at the Mesa Cup back in February. Parenteau will be out for revenge on Friday as she looks to solidify her qualifying position for next month’s PPA Tour Finals.

  • In men’s singles, top-seeded Chris Haworth will take on Jack Sock for the third time in 2026. Haworth leads the all-time series 4-0, but Sock looked particularly strong in his Round of 16 win over JW Johnson. The No. 6 seed will look to carry that momentum into Friday’s clash as he continues his pursuit of his first career singles title on the PPA Tour.

  • One of the day’s most intriguing matchups comes from the mixed doubles draw, where No. 3 seeds Rachel Rohrabacher/Gabe Tardio will take on No. 5 seeds Kate Fahey/Federico Staksrud in a contest that has massive implications for who will qualify for the PPA Tour finals. Rohrabacher had a 100-point advantage over Fahey coming into this week, so a win on Friday would help Fahey overtake Rohrabacher for the No. 9 spot. Both players are in pursuit of Parris Todd, who holds the 8th and final qualifying spot and is still in this week’s draw alongside Andrei Daescu.
