Now, let’s get into what to watch for.
- Anna Bright is in the singles draw for the first time since the Milwaukee Open in 2024. Like she did last year, Bright is entering into singles draws in the tournaments ahead of the MLP playoffs, where her St. Louis Shock could rely on her singles prowess in key DreamBreaker moments. Bright will face No. 26 seed Martina Frantova in the first round, with No. 4 seed Lea Jansen awaiting the winner.
- Alex Crum is back in the singles draw for the first time since his quarterfinal run in Atlanta, which was highlighted by his upset victory over Federico Staksrud in the first round. The “Anna Bright” rapper is the No. 36 seed this week and will be looking to make another run, starting with a clash against No. 27 seed Jay Devilliers.
- Men’s doubles partners Ben Johns and Gabe Tardio could face off in the Round of 16, but both players have to overcome some hurdles to make it to that point. Johns would have to beat either Max Freeman or James Ignatowich, while Tardio would most likely have to beat 2024 quarterfinalist Grayson Goldin. If Johns and Tardio both make the final 16, the meeting would be their first on the singles court since 2023.
Live coverage from Bristol Sportsplex begins at 11am ET on Pickleballtv.
