Castillo upsets Brascia, will face Waters in semis
SAN CLEMENTE, CA - No. 4 Mary Brascia won't be celebrating a singles title on home turf this week at the Select Medical Orange County Cup presented by FitVine Wines.
No. 8 Judit Castillo denied her that opportunity on Friday in the quarterfinals with a 10-12, 11-3, 11-5 victory at Life Time Rancho San Clemente.
Castillo will face top-seeded Anna Leigh Waters in the semis on Saturday.
The 25-year-old Spaniard, who also defeated No. 38 Emily Cederquist and No. 11 Jorja Johnson in head-to-head matchups in California, won singles gold in March at the Veolia Austin Open.
