Dallas outduels Brooklyn in DreamBreaker for 11th straight win, 2nd straight Super Sunday Belt

The Dallas Flash closed out their regular season with a DreamBreaker victory over the Brooklyn Pickleball Team on Sunday afternoon to clinch their 11th straight win and second Super Sunday Belt in as many weeks.

Dallas fell to Brooklyn in the same way when they met earlier this season at MLP New York—squandering a 19-11 lead in the process—but they got their revenge in the weekend’s final contest at MLP Chicago.

Sunday’s match followed the same sequence as the teams’ previous encounter; Dallas took women’s doubles and the second mixed doubles game with Danni-Elle Townsend/Augie Ge, while Brooklyn won men’s doubles and the first mixed doubles game with Rachel Rohrabacher/Christian Alshon.

JW Johnson set the tone for the Flash right out of the gate in the DreamBreaker with a 4-0 rotation against Chris Haworth, the top-ranked men’s singles player on the PPA Tour.

From there, Dallas kept piling on to the tune of a 21-10 triumph to add 25 standings points to their season total for the second week in a row.

Flash star Danni-Elle Townsend put together an especially strong performance in all three events, winning both her doubles matches and scoring the final DreamBreaker point against Jackie Kawamoto.

“I think I’m still improving every single day, and the crowd really helps me through. I thrive in that,” said the Aussie, who is a finalist for MLP’s Most Improved Player. “I’m just stoked to be here in America and making the most of it.”

After winning back-to-back events to end their regular season, Dallas is in 4th place in the season standings with 72 standings points. With the Los Angeles Mad Drops and Brooklyn not far behind with 71 and 66 standings points, respectively, the Flash are expected to end the regular season in 6th place with both LA and Brooklyn in action next week at Amway MLP Orlando.

Here is a full look at the final standings from an exciting week in the Windy City.

The final regular season event, Amway MLP Orlando, is up next and will run July 30-August 2.
