Drew Brees joins The Picklr
DALLAS, TX – Twenty-year NFL veteran Drew Brees joined America’s fastest-growing indoor pickleball facility, The Picklr, as an ambassador, investor, and franchise owner.
According to a press release, the famed quarterback will work closely with The Picklr to promote the brand and its mission to provide state of the art sports facilities for athletes of all ages and skill levels.
Brees will also open his first flagship Picklr location in Indianapolis in 2024.
“My mission in business and franchising is to work with top-tier organizations and people to create a best-in-class culture and provide exceptional experiences. I saw that immediately with The Picklr,” said Brees.
“Everyone recognizes Drew’s prowess on the football field, but many may not realize that he has built franchising expertise for over a decade,” said Scott Schubiger, Chief Growth Officer of The Picklr. “Getting to know Drew over the last few months has made it abundantly clear that our collective passion and vision for the sport of pickleball are perfectly aligned. We are truly honored and could think of no better person than Drew Brees to join The Picklr family as an investor, brand ambassador, and 30-unit, multi-state franchisee.”
The Picklr recently announced a partnership with Pickleball Inc., officially making Brees part of the family.
The 45-year-old isn’t a newbie to America's fastest-growing sport. He first learned about it as a kid at summer camp.
“This was the early days of pickleball where it was a wooden paddle and it felt like a smaller version of tennis, but I love ping pong and I love anything that’s a racket sport. So, 2018 came around and I was building a sport court in my backyard, and I wanted to line it for pickleball because it’s a great family sport,” said Brees, a co-owner of the Los Angeles Mad Drops (MLP). “Pickleball is here to stay. It is not a fad. I think it will continue to grow exponentially.”
Brees looks forward to Picklr locations providing more access to courts and creating community hubs.
And given his passion for pickleball, he’s looking forward to seeing the franchise - and the sport as a whole - continue to reach new heights.
“With membership at a place like the Picklr, you set that weekly schedule and routine with your group or friends, it’s great to create community and build teams. It becomes a bit of a gathering place for those who are really serious about pickleball, and the very casual players. I think there’s something there for everyone,” shared Brees.
“What I love about the game of pickleball is that it promotes such a healthy and active lifestyle. It’s gotten a lot of people moving again who were otherwise a bit stagnant. And pickleball has given people movement and competition and athleticism for people’s overall health and wellness, not just physically, but mentally, too,” he concluded.
With an ambassador like Brees on the Picklr’s team, they’re guaranteed success.
