Goldin ousts Young to advance to quarters
SAN CLEMENTE, CA - Confidence definitely wasn't a problem for No. 28 Donald Young entering Thursday's Round of 16 singles match against No. 51 Grayson Goldin at the Select Medical Orange County Cup presented by FitVine Wines.
After all, Young had defeated third-seeded Connor Garnett in the Round of 32.
Unfortunately for him, Goldin was feeling just as good as his opponent following victories over veterans Ryan Sherry and John Cincola.
Goldin would stop Young in his tracks - 11-5, 11-9 - to advance to the quarterfinals on Friday where he'll face No. 11 Chris Haworth, who defeated No. 5 Dylan Frazier to keep his medal hopes alive.
Goldin, 29, also worked his way through the qualifications to enjoy this opportunity.
