McGuffin bests Frazier in quarterfinals
PEACHTREE CORNERS, GA – Despite rain delays and a move from an outdoor to an indoor court, Tyson McGuffin proved why he’s the No. 4 seed at the Vizzy Atlanta Open on Friday.
McGuffin posted 6-11, 12-10, and 11-9 victory over Dylan Frazier in the quarterfinals.
And as per usual with McGuffin, it was a hard-fought battle overflowing with supremely entertaining shots and powerful drives.
“Dylan’s singles game in the last year is elevating. I lost to him earlier this year at the Masters, so I came out for some revenge today,” said McGuffin.
McGuffin shared that the rain delay and move indoors likely benefitted his game, too.
“I actually play a lot indoors, so I think the last two games suited me. I didn’t have the best start, but it’s not about how you start, it’s how you finish,” he said.
McGuffin advanced to play Ben Johns in the semis on Saturday.
Needless to say, it’s going to be an exciting match.
