MLP announces partnership with Owl AI to streamline line calls and video challenges
Major League Pickleball is joining forces with Owl AI to bring automatic line calling to professional pickleball, according to a release published Thursday.
The league will join Owl AI's Trailblazer Program, granting it access to AI-based technology that will be used in partnership with MLP’s existing match referees to provide accurate rulings and faster turnaround times for video challenges throughout the 2026 season.
"It’s paramount for MLP to strategically align with innovative companies like Owl AI to enhance the reliability of our challenge system and the overall production quality of the on-court product,” said MLP Commissioner Samin Odhwani.
"MLP’s selection of Owl AI is a testament to their innovative spirit. Our AI platform is built to deliver the speed and accuracy that a fast-paced sport like pickleball demands,” said Josh Gwyther, CEO of Owl AI. “This partnership will not only enhance the integrity of the line calls and challenges for players but will also create a more engaging and transparent experience for the millions of fans watching.”
The technology will first be introduced in March at the PPA Tour’s Greater Zion Cup before the MLP regular season begins in late May.
