MLP Trade: David to Bouncers, Glozman to Slice

Major League Pickleball announced a trade between the Chicago Slice (2-6, 8pts) and Atlanta Bouncers (4-11, 12pts) on Tuesday afternoon.

Here are the details:

Let’s get into how these moves impact each team’s roster:

Chicago: Callie Smith, Vivian Glozman, Pierina Imparato, James Ignatowich, Max Freeman, Carlos Di Laura

Glozman joins the Slice after posting an 11-19 record through the Bouncers’ first 15 matches of the season.

After being traded to Atlanta from the New York Hustlers (and the Brooklyn Pickleball Team) during the offseason, Glozman failed to find her groove with the Bouncers. She went 5-10 with MLP newcomer Victoria DiMuzio in women’s doubles and 6-9 alongside Jaume Martinez Vich in mixed doubles.

I think she is in a much better position to succeed with Chicago. She’ll get to play with a veteran in Smith in women’s doubles and will most likely join forces with Ignatowich in mixed. The last time she and Ignatowich played together, they mad the quarterfinals of the PPA Las Vegas Cup back in August of 2024.

Glozman should also prove to be a useful asset in DreamBreakers, which will be big for a Chicago squad that is currently 1-3 in such contests.

Frankly, it is shocking that Chicago was able to get Glozman without having to pay anything.

We’ll get to see Glozman’s debut for Chicago this weekend at MLP Daytona Beach.

Atlanta: Victoria DiMuzio, Vivienne David, Rachel Rettger, Jaume Martinez Vich, Todd Fought, Sam Querrey

David joins the Bouncers after posting an 8-8 record with Chicago, and I don’t see things getting much better for her in Atlanta.

She almost exclusively plays the right side in doubles, which will put pressure on the unproven DiMuzio to play the left.

She and Martinez Vich could make for a fun pairing in mixed doubles, but it’s hard to imagine this trade doing a lot to help an Atlanta squad that is coming off a disappointing 1-5 showing in Phoenix.

On paper, this trade doesn’t make a lot of sense for Atlanta, especially because there wasn’t any money involved.

There were reportedly some team chemistry issues with Atlanta that surfaced over the weekend in Phoenix, so those could very well have played a significant role in making this trade happen.

We won’t get to see David make her debut for Atlanta until the Mid-Season Tournament, which will run July 9-13.
