Pickle Breakers staging Guinness World Record attempt for longest marathon rally playing pickleball

According to the Guinness World Records, the longest marathon rally playing pickleball currently stands at 34 hours and 5 minutes.

That mark, which was set in the UK, could change later this week stateside.

A team of four athletes known as "The Pickle Breakers" will attempt to defeat it with a proposed 36-hour mixed doubles effort at Pickler Universe in Carrollton, TX.

Chong Kim, Jaret Petras, Laura Maala and Geneva Olson will hit the court on Saturday, April 12 at 6:00 a.m. CT and play until Sunday, April 13 at 9:00 p.m. CT.

Along with setting a new record and bringing the title back to the U.S. in the process, the group is staging the event with an important cause in mind - to help others dealing with grief and mental health issues.

"This is more than a physical challenge. It’s about healing, hope, and harnessing the
power of pickleball to bring people together," said Kim.

The record attempt was actually born from a tragedy that rocked the pickleball community in North Texas as a fellow player took their own life last year.

With that in mind, The Pickle Breakers are partnering with Taylor’s Gift Foundation, a nonprofit organization that provides organ and tissue donor families with free grief support after the loss of their loved one.

By joining forces with Taylor’s Gift Foundation, the group is supporting donor families and encouraging meaningful conversations and compassion.

"You can accomplish anything you set your mind towards," said Kim. "The dream is real. Let’s make it happen.”
