Sand + Fog’s pickleball candle
DALLAS, TX - If pickleball had a candle scent, what would it be?
I'm kind of worried it would smell like sweat, plastic, and oily sunscreen. That isn't a scent I’d want burning in my half bathroom when guests come over for a party.
But, candle company Sand + Fog has released a pickleball candle collection that has found its way onto the shelves at T.J. Maxx and HomeGoods.
If you’re a Maxxinista, you’d understand that hunting down specific items you saw on a random Instagram account that a user found at T.J. Maxx is about as hard as acing a serve.
Alas, I haven't been able to get my hands on one (yet).
There are currently two pickleball candles. One is the Sun Washed Citrus with a wooden candle top that features two pickleball paddles.
According to the Sand + Fog website, the scent is described as sweet and spicy with notes of orange, violet, and raspberry.
I have no idea how those scents relate to pickleball, but they must be better than what I was picturing.
The other option is the California Beach House candle that says “Let’s Pickle” on the top, complete with palm trees and a pickleball paddle.
This one has notes of coconut, frangipani (plumeria), and guava. Now that sounds like a Pickleball Getaways trip!
However, they are $33, which is a little pricey for a sport that stresses affordability and accessibility... until you get addicted and start upgrading to a Ben Johns JOOLA paddle and Anna Leigh Waters’ FILA fit.
While a pickleball candle may seem out of the blue, Sand + Fog has a wide variety of unique wooden candle tops for their candles. From flowers to inspirational quotes, it was only a matter of time before pickleball became the latest addition to their collection.
Sand + Fog is capitalizing on pickleball’s popularity, similarly to what Target has done with their dollar section and their new collaboration with Prince Pickleball.
Seems random, pickleball and candles, but it works.
As much as I hate to admit it, if I happen upon this delightful scent of coconut that also has a pickleball pun on top, I’m adding it to my cart immediately.
I’m a sucker for it and I’m not the only one.
Maybe it’s good I haven’t seen one yet since I already have a cabinet full of candles anyway. But I don’t have a pickleball candle. It’s not a want, it’s a need.
