Schneemann, Kawamoto soar into women’s doubles final
OVERLAND PARK, KS - Lacy Schneemann and Jade Kawamoto booked their spots in the women’s doubles final with an 11-7, 11-6 victory over No. 2 seeds Meghan Dizon and Etta Wright.
The No. 5 seeds displayed an impressive degree of partner synergy, as Schneemann looked to take over the court with her forehand, while the lefty Kawamoto was superbly solid on the right side with resets, counters, and lobs.
“I think our games work well together,” Schneemann said of the partnership. “I like to be big in the middle, and Jade is so good at helping me cover court because I’m not the tallest person out there. I think we have enough power to match the best, and we were able to lock it down today.”
Both Schneemann and Kawamoto have made it to the finals separately in 2024, with Schneemann doing so with Vivian Glozman and Vivienne David and Kawamoto making the final with Andrea Koop in Atlanta.
They fell to Anna Leigh Waters and Catherine Parenteau in two of those championship matches, but they’ll have a chance for redemption when they face the top seeds for the title on Sunday.
