Staksrud starts Mesa campaign using JOOLA paddle despite being signed with Adidas
Federico Staksrud made headlines in the first match of the day at the Carvana Mesa Cup presented by Proton not for his performance, but because of what paddle he used en route to an 11-4, 11-8 victory over No. 64 seed Ty Parrish.
Staksrud signed a deal with Adidas Pickleball in January after having represented JOOLA for the past two and a half years.
His first tournament with adidas, however, didn’t quite go to plan. He was eliminated before the quarterfinals in all three events at the Proton Tucson Open, which brought his incredible streak of 25 straight PPA tournaments with a medal to a close.
Two weeks later, he’s back to using a JOOLA paddle, while still dressed in Adidas apparel.
The Argentine doesn’t have any more matches to play on Tuesday, so it will certainly be worth monitoring what paddle he uses in his Round of 32 matches on Wednesday.
