Teenage stars steal the show at PPA Canada Ottawa 125

The top of the podium at the PPA Ottawa 125 was filled with young talent, as all of the gold medalists in the pro divisions are under 18 years old.

The event—the second one hosted by PPA Tour Canada—ran concurrently with another international event, the PPA Tour Asia’s Hong Kong Slam.

While many of the ‘usual suspects’ took gold in Asia, the event in the Canadian capital was all about the youngsters.

17-year-old Andrew Caldarella, 14-year-old Kelly Goodnow, and 13-year-old Elsie Hendershot all captured two titles, with Caldarella and Hendershot narrowly missing out on Triple Crowns by taking silver in their respective singles draws.

16-year-olds Danny Phillips and Braden Jacobson also hit the top of the medal stand, with Phillips taking the men’s singles title and Jacobson claiming men’s doubles gold alongside Caldarella.

13-year-old Natalia Simson also had a standout performance, taking silver in women’s doubles with Mary McGowan and bronze in women’s singles.

The weekend’s results across the board only inspire more confidence in the future generation of pickleball’s top stars.

The next PPA Tour event in Canada will be the PPA Toronto 125, which will run from Nov. 26-Nov. 29.
