Todd dominates Christian for first PPA title since 2022
Parris Todd put on quite the performance in the women’s singles final, coming away with an 11-2, 11-3 victory over top-seeded Kaitlyn Christian.
Todd played at an incredibly high level, dialing in her passing shots from everywhere on the court as Christian frequently attempted to come up to the net.
With this result, Todd has earned her first PPA gold medal since 2022, when she beat Anna Leigh Waters for the title at the Orange County Cup.
She gave credit to her boyfriend and training partner, Hunter Johnson, who will play in the men’s singles final later on Sunday.
“Honestly when I’m training with him and then going to play against girls, I never feel like the ball is too big because Hunter hits the ball so hard. Every time I go into a match, I feel good, and my timing feels good. I owe a lot of that to him training with me,” she said.
Todd will be back in action in the women’s doubles bronze medal match, where she and Tyra Black will face Meghan Dizon/Etta Tuionetoa.
In the women’s singles bronze medal match, Kate Fahey defeated Brooke Buckner by an 11-7, 11-1 score line.
