
Vivienne David announces retirement from pro competition
Longtime pickleball pro Vivienne David announced her retirement from professional competition in a heartfelt Instagram post Tuesday afternoon.
Known as one of the sport’s top right-side females, David will end her playing career at the age of 28 with three PPA Tour titles and 23 total PPA medals.
Most of her medals (and two of her titles) came from playing mixed doubles with Thomas Wilson, whose own career has been suspended as he deals with a rare autoimmune disorder.
Wilson posted an Instagram story in response to his former mixed doubles partner’s announcement, writing “Nothing will ever compare to the experience of playing with [Vivienne] and the run we had together.”
According to her post, David’s next steps in pickleball will revolve around teaching instead of competing.
