Waters battles past Jansen for women’s singles title and Triple Crown No. 33
Anna Leigh Waters closed out gold medal action at the Veolia Cape Coral Open presented by Proton with an 11-3, 11-7 victory over No. 6 seed Lea Jansen in the women’s singles final.
Despite having already played in two other title matches on Sunday, Waters frequently beat Jansen up to the kitchen line and overcame her opponent’s smart use of angles with well-struck passing shots.

Jansen did use a six-point run to bring the score to 7-10 in the second game, but Waters was able to close out the contest at the second time of asking to remain undefeated in singles in 2025.
Three titles on Sunday gives Waters her 33rd Triple Crown on the PPA Tour, which is the most all-time (if you're curious, Ben Johns has 21).
The 18-year-old spoke about what it means to go three for three in her hometown.
“It’s awesome being here in Florida. Being in my hometown and seeing a lot of people that I haven’t seen in a while really helped push me through, especially with all of these tournaments on the tour taking place around the country,” she mentioned. “It really made this one feel special, so I’m really glad that I could get a Triple Crown here.”
Waters will look to go for Triple Crown No. 34 at next week’s CIBC Texas Open.
In the bronze medal match, No. 4 seed Kate Fahey defeated No. 8 seed Chao Yi (Zoey) Wang by an 11-3, 11-3 score line.
