Waters, Bright sweep Parenteau, Rohrabacher as Waters earns ‘Triple 50’
For the second tournament in a row, Anna Leigh Waters/Anna Bright faced off against Catherine Parenteau/Rachel Rohrabacher in the women's doubles final.
And for the second tournament in a row, Waters/Bright emerged victorious after three games.
The top seeds, who have yet to lose a match through nine tournaments together (seven in 2023, two in 2025), came away with an 11-2, 11-8, 11-8 triumph over their former partners.
Parenteau/Rohrabacher seemed poised to even the match when they got up 8-4 in the second game, but a 15-point scoring run from Waters/Bright put the match out of reach.
“[Catherine and Rachel] came out firing in Game 2, and we kind of had to up our level,” Bright said after the contest. “And then Game 3 was definitely a game of runs. We were able to start ahead and kind of hold on when they had that big late game surge. Congrats to them—it’s really fun playing them in the final.”
This result is especially significant for Waters because it makes her the first pickleball player ever to achieve a ‘Triple 50’ on the PPA Tour: 50 singles titles, 50 mixed doubles titles, and 50 gender doubles titles.
The 18-year-old phenom spoke about what it has taken, from both her and her partners, to get to this point.
“I honestly couldn’t do the doubles without Anna, without Catherine, and without my mom. I couldn’t do the mixed without Ben [Johns], so thank you to all my partners for staying strong. It’s definitely not just me out here on the court, so I definitely want to make that statement,” she said. “I’m enjoying every moment, enjoying playing at facilities like this, and today I really enjoyed sharing the court with AB. Hopefully this isn’t my last, but I’m very happy with what I have achieved and what we have achieved.”
In the bronze medal match, No. 3 seeds Tyra Black/Parris Todd defeated No. 10 seeds Mari Humberg/Meghan Dizon by a 3-11, 11-3, 11-8 score line to secure their second straight third-place finish.
