Frazier follows in parents' footsteps by earning Mizzou degree
Add Dylan Frazier to the University of Missouri's notable alumni list.
The 23-year-old completed his undergraduate studies in business administration over the summer and earned a coveted Bachelor of Science degree in the process.
Reaching this significant milestone didn't come easy, of course, because Frazier was tasked with balancing his classroom responsibilities alongside a demanding professional pickleball schedule.
But, he made it work.
After attending on-campus classes during his freshman and sophomore years and enjoying a tried-and-true college experience, he eventually transitioned to online courses as a junior and senior to accommodate more frequent travel to tournaments across the country.
"Getting the degree means a lot. It was a challenge to do it while playing pickleball the whole time, but it was something that was always on my checklist. It was just something I always thought I would do," said Frazier, whose family ties at the school run especially deep. "Both my parents went to Mizzou, so that was just kind of the plan the whole time. I really enjoyed my time in college. I'm really glad I did it. I'm also really happy that it's done, though, so I can just focus on pickleball on a full-time basis."

The final requirement for his degree was actually a business-related internship.
And MLP's Orlando Squeeze was happy to lend one of their star players a helping hand in that department.
"We were already doing clinics, exhibitions, and meet-and-greets, so I just kept doing the same things as everybody else on the team," explained Frazier. "I was able to fit everything into that particular internship assignment."
Talk about convenience.
It really was a perfect way to end his tenure as a student.
His parents Cindy (BS Ed ’91, MBA ’07) and Shawn (BS Acc ’90) were especially proud of his accomplishment.
"Over the years, they've both shared stories of their time at Mizzou. My godfather is actually my dad's college roommate from Mizzou. There's lots of family history there. I'm just so happy to follow in their footsteps. I'm a True Tiger," mentioned Frazier. "My mom actually works for the Mizzou Alumni Association, so she's very involved with things happening on campus. Mizzou's a great school. From the great learning opportunities to the social experience, I couldn't imagine myself anywhere else."
Unfortunately, Frazier won't be in attendance for his graduation ceremony come December because it conflicts with the PPA Tour's Daytona Beach Open.
That's why he already took a few commemorative photographs that he will cherish forever.
"It was really just kind of a last-minute thing. I was in town, and we knew that I wasn't going to make graduation, so we were like, 'Let's go on campus and take some photos so that we can create a post to celebrate graduation.' My mom and dad met me there, and my sister was there with her boyfriend," recalled Frazier. "After the pictures, we walked to a restaurant in the downtown area in Columbia and celebrated, so it was a fun evening."
While competing on tour remains his primary focus at the moment, he plans on putting his degree to good use down the road.
It's no surprise that exploring another key aspect of the picklesphere is a possibility.
"I've given it a little bit of thought. Right now, my pickleball career as a player is going fairly well, and I'd like to pursue that for the foreseeable future, but at the same time, I'm always keeping my eyes and ears open for opportunities to get involved in the business side of things," mentioned Frazier. "There's always a ton of businesses springing up left and right. Pickleball is just kind of the Wild West with a bunch of new players and international expansion. There's just lots of opportunities to get involved in. I haven't really started searching super hard yet for what that might look like, but I'm definitely open to something if it comes along. Combining pickleball with my business knowledge would be just fine since I'm already pretty connected in that world."
So where does graduating from Mizzou rank on his all-time list of accomplishments to date?
"It’s definitely very high. I know going to college is a privilege. It’s not something that everybody gets to do. It’s not something that everybody succeeds at or is able to see all the way through to the end. I just feel super fortunate and grateful that I was still able to do that while balancing a busy pickleball schedule, which has been another blessing in my life,” concluded Frazier. "I'm just happy to have all these things to be grateful for."
