Fun fact: Anna Bright used to cut her own hair
We’ve all been there, ladies.
There’s something inherent in us girls where we’re always on the cusp of cutting our own bangs at home. If something major happens, don’t tempt me because I will have a burning desire to take my kitchen scissors and start chopping away at my split ends.
Did you know that Anna Bright used to cut her own hair? And it wasn’t a one-time thing. This was years of Bright being her own hairdresser.
Bright shared the story on the “Talk Pickle to Me” podcast.
“I just got my hair cut and it was my first time since high school of getting proper layers,” she mentioned.
Host Kaitlyn Kerr nodded along, assuming there was nothing out of the ordinary comment-wise forthcoming from her guest.

Kerr was wrong.
“This is a funny bit of Anna lore, but I cut my own hair from being about 17 years old, up until June of 2024,” revealed Bright.
Kerr’s jaw subsequently dropped with amazement.
“This is only my second time getting a haircut in a long time,” added Bright.
Why Anna?
“It was just convenient. I would just get the urge and hack it straight across,” she explained.
Kerr inquired if avoiding a professional haircut was really about the price.
Bright replied that cutting her own hair was a stylistic choice. She wasn't expecting to achieve perfection herself. In fact, she liked the messiness of an imperfect cut.
“It wasn’t even something I would try to do well, I would just do it because I kind of liked the look of it,” confirmed Bright. “I didn’t like the look of it being super blunt, but when you do it yourself like that, it’s not perfect, so it would end up a little messy.”
In June 2024, Bright’s former women’s doubles partner, Rachel Rohrabacher, convinced her to finally get a proper haircut in San Clemente, CA.
Then, she got another haircut at home in Boca Raton, FL where she experimented with layers.
With that in mind, it made sense why she introduced a new accessory to her court look at the Proton Tucson Open.
Enter the chunky headband.
Girls with layers know the irritating feeling of all the layered pieces falling out of your braid or ponytail during an intense rally, of course, so the headband makes a world of difference.
The look was functional and cute for Bright.
I can see definitely see it as a staple in pickleball wardrobes everywhere.
