Parris Todd, Hunter Johnson announce breakup
Power couple Parris Todd and Hunter Johnson have gone their separate ways.
Tournament attendees at the Select Medical Orange County Cup noticed that she was absent from his bench during matches, so there was speculation that something was up.
Todd confirmed the break up - and reflected on the relationship - during her recent appearance on the PICKLEBALLERS podcast.
“Everything happens for a reason, and I’ll always hold him dear to my heart,” said Todd. “We played together for a long time. We were able to win together and lose together, and you learn so much about someone going through all of that. And the fact that we can share that with each other is such a cool story. I’ll remember it forever.”

Todd and Johnson dated for a little over two years, navigating their respective climbs up the rankings as a cohesive unit.
That unwavering mutual support was incredibly meaningful.
“I appreciate everything he’s done for me because he supported me from day one. I’ve never had that in a relationship. The fact that he was able to be selfless enough to always be on my bench, always helping, always coaching me, and traveling with me,” shared Todd. “We’ve had times where I was overwhelmed and he was always there to tell me ‘You’re going to be okay, I’m here for you.’ It was a relationship at a time that we both really needed. We were such a support system for each other that I couldn’t imagine my life with him not on the road.”
Despite the split, Todd and Johnson are determined to keep things respectful and kind.
“We want to stay friends and we want to maintain a good relationship because why should there be animosity or hate between us when we’ve built this beautiful relationship and friendship?” she mentioned.
Todd and Johnson were also extremely open about their friendship with Johnson’s twin brother, Yates, and fellow pro, Roscoe Bellamy.
“I’m really grateful for the time I was able to spend with Hunter, Yates, and Roscoe,” she praised. “We had our beautiful circle and friendship, and I’m forever grateful for that.”
Johnson ultimately won gold in men’s singles at the Select Medical Orange County Cup.
Jimmy Miller from the King of the Court Podcast insisted that “he was playing with something to prove.”
Todd also commented on Johnson’s recent success on the court.
“Everything is new and very fresh, so him winning in San Clemente, that was huge for him,” she said. “I’m so happy and proud of him for accomplishing that during this hard time that we’ve had.”
Johnson and Todd’s break up feels like the end of an era, but it’s one they’re navigating with appreciation and goodwill towards one another.
